Farallon’s 2021 Intern, Angie, is an environmental studies major at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She finished her internship with us last week and is headed back to complete her senior year of school.
As part of her internship, Angie assisted with groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation and development, subsurface investigation drilling, excavation observation, and increasing her understanding of the complex world of environmental regulations. The Farallon internship teaches skills not learned in a classroom setting, and allows Angie to gain on-site experience in a variety of environmental projects. This exposure to Farallon's suite of environmental consulting specialties will enable Angie to focus her remaining studies, and to be better prepared to enter the environmental workforce after graduation.
Angie immediately knew she wanted to pursue a career in the environmental sector after taking her first environmental science course during her senior year of high school. Her desire to help protect the environment was strengthened when she gained first-hand experience on the dangers of wildfires and droughts in Southern California, and she has since become deeply invested in restoring damaged ecosystems and preserving those that are still intact. We wish Angie the best of luck in completing her studies this next year.
