At Farallon, we support geotechnical investigations with vibratory core (vibracore) sampling of unconsolidated sediments for grain size, soils testing, and analytical analyses. In addition, we support geotechnical investigations with seismic surveys that provide images of sub bottom geology, stratigraphy, and the horizontal and vertical extent of sub bottom sediment layers. Seismic refraction surveys measure acoustic velocities that identify the type of sediment within geologic layers. Farallon’s geotechnical investigations are in support of dredging, beach nourishment, sand mining, wetland research, and contamination mapping. Project sites include the entire range of overwater environments, including creeks and rivers, ponds and lakes, ports and harbors, and open-ocean coastlines.
