A hazardous building material survey (HBMS) is a survey that identifies the presence of hazardous materials in a building including, but not limited to, asbestos, lead-based paint, and PCBs.
This survey is often completed during the due diligence process alongside a Phase I ESA or immediately upon a property transfer or acquisition. The HBMS is intended to identify materials that could be harmful if they are not removed prior to a renovation or demolition. We team with qualified inspectors that have long-term experience and technical knowledge to identify hazardous building materials. At the request of our clients, these inspectors prepare estimated costs to abate the hazardous building materials or prepare Operations and Maintenance Plans to manage the hazardous building materials left in place.
