Farallon provided environmental and engineering services for an industrial property formerly used to manufacture batteries. The property was enrolled in the Washington State Department of Ecology Voluntary Cleanup Program, and the client needed to obtain a No Further Action determination from the Washington State Department of Ecology in order to sell the property. Farallon evaluated the results of prior environmental investigations and cleanup actions performed under U.S. Environmental Protection Agency oversight, and identified remaining data gaps.
After performing additional subsurface investigation to address the identified data gaps, Farallon prepared the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study Report and the Cleanup Action Plan for the client’s selected cleanup alternative, and prepared construction plans and specifications. Farallon provided construction support during the cleanup action, including contractor procurement, contractor observation, field environmental services, and construction documentation. The cleanup action entailed demolition of the structure on the property, including abatement of hazardous building materials and removal of shallow soil contaminated with lead. Upon completion of the cleanup action, Farallon generated a Closure Report and filed an environmental covenant on the property on behalf of the client.
