Sediment Study - Lower Duwamish

Farallon is conducting an investigation to assess whether sediments in the Duwamish Waterway adjacent to the steel foundry site have been impacted by current or historical operations at the property within the Lower Duwamish Way Superfund Site that formerly was owned and operated by Earle M. Jorgensen (EMJ). The work is being conducted on behalf of EMJ under an Administrative Order on Consent between EPA and EMJ. Farallon is in the first phase of the investigation, which includes summarizing available information to identify potential sources of PCBs from current or historical operations at the site or site vicinity, to define potential contaminant pathways to the Duwamish Waterway, and to identify data gaps. The results will be summarized in an Environmental Sampling Work Plan, which will describe the basis for any additional investigation.
